Stretch 7: Walker Pass to Kennedy Meadows South
A bit of a delayed update cause I’ve been off the grid for a long while! I left Kernville on June 2nd and reached KMS to a round of applause for finishing out the desert section on the morning of June 5th, just in time for an all you can eat pancake breakfast. No service and not enough wifi to share this update then - sorry for causing concern mom and dad! Thanks to everyone for checking in. I am still very much alive and well and thriving. Here’s the report from last week…
Not much to say other than I’m feeling tired! My legs were the most sluggish they’ve been all trip getting back on trail right after a milkshake and a few days off. Starting out with a steep long climb carrying a full pack of fresh food and many liters of water in the afternoon heat turned night hike was a certainly jumping right back into the fire. But people and views and sunsets are buoying! And wow I felt so incredibly revived and refreshed getting out of the desert and finding an abundance of water in the Kern River Valley. The start of so many swims!!
Here’s some photos that attempt to capture it.
